Celebration of Student Team National Victories
A record number of alumni and supporters of the University of Houston C. T. Bauer College of Business gathered on Aug. 18 for the signature event of the Bauer College Alumni Association, an annual meeting to celebrate the accomplishments and successes of the year.
This year’s meeting honored the numerous Bauer student teams who competed and placed nationally in 2010 and 2011. Another honoree was Michael J. Cemo (BS ’68), a former UH System Regent and namesake of the college’s newest building, where the meeting was held.
Invesco Aim Distributors President John Cooper paid tribute to Cemo, who was instrumental in connecting the late Charles T. “Ted” Bauer to college leaders and remains a vocal supporter of UH Bauer today.
“Mike’s support of Bauer creates excitement among our alumni and students,” said Interim Dean Latha Ramchand. “It is fitting that our alumni group wanted to recognize him at their annual meeting, along with our students who have helped to put the college on the national map in the past year.”
The meeting was also be a celebration of a growth year for the Bauer College Alumni Association, including a scholarship campaign, the Ted Bauer Golf Classic, volunteer events and another successful season of monthly networking breakfasts.
The meeting was presented by The Willis Group, Mutual of Omaha Bank, Liberty Mutual, CenterPoint and Hein & Associates, with a reception following in Melcher Hall.
