John Reinert, an assistant dean and alumnus of the C. T. Bauer College of Business, passed away on Dec. 15 after battling lymphoma.

Reinert graduated from Bauer’s Executive MBA program and became an active alumnus, serving on the board of the Bauer College Alumni Association. He also served on the college’s faculty and staff, serving as assistant dean for Bauer’s Graduate and Professional Programs and playing a significant role in developing corporate partnerships for the college.

“John cared deeply about our college, students, staff, faculty and alumni,” Dean Latha Ramchand said. “He will be sorely missed.”

Reinert’s professional career spanned nearly three decades, with experience in senior level functional leadership in business development, marketing and customer management. He worked with Tier One firms such as Johnson & Johnson, Clorox and Del Monte Foods, with broad leadership responsibilities for multiple retail channels and third party agencies.

Reinert spent eight years in northwest Arkansas as a senior multi-functional team leader, focused on the Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club business. He then built his own consulting firm, focused on customer management and business development with small to mid-tier firms.

He was active in the community, with many philanthropic leadership roles. He leaves behind members of his beloved family, including his wife, Jane.

A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, at 3 p.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church (1801 Sage Road, Houston, TX 77056) with a reception following at the Reinert home.  An additional prayer service will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Elgin, Illinois at 11 a.m. on Jan. 3, 2015.

In lieu of flowers, Reinert’s family requests that donations be made in his name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
