On Bauer Business Focus — A conversation on what’s in store for the Houston business community in 2012 with Andrew Schneider, business reporter for KUHF 88.7 FM.
Rebuilding the nation’s economy has been a focus since the 2008 recession, with many cities across the country still facing a long road ahead.
The new year ahead looks a bit brighter for Houston, according to Greater Houston Partnership chairman Anthony R. Chase.
Chase, who is also chairman and CEO of ChaseSource, L.P. and ChaseSource Real Estate Services, L.P., stopped by Bauer Business Focus recently to discuss what 2012 holds for the Houston business community.
“Houston is an incredible city commercially, and otherwise, and is an economically vibrant city in the country,” Chase said. “It is the only city in the country to emerge from the recession that restored all 121,000 jobs that were lost during the recession and the GHP predicts a very vibrant and active economy in Houston in 2012, adding some 85,000 new jobs.”
Continuing to grow the city’s economy won’t be without challenges, Chase said, but the city and its residents are prepared to handle it.
“Our greatest challenge is ourselves. It’s about not becoming complacent and continuing to work hard and work smart and to think about the future in a long term way.”
