On Bauer Business Focus — A conversation on how property owners can rebound from the damage caused by hurricane Isaac with Andrew Schneider, business reporter for KUHF 88.7 FM.
During the last week of August, hurricane Isaac poured rain and flooded areas of the Gulf Coast where many residents lost or received a massive amount of damage to their homes. Dumping more than 15 inches of rain in some areas and causing an estimated one billion dollars in damage, many are starting the process of rebuilding what they lost.
Dan Jones, an executive professor of insurance and risk management at the C. T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston, stopped by Bauer Business Focus recently to discuss how property owners can rebound from hurricane Isaac.
“Residents should have prepared and maintained insurance records then they have to file evidence of what they lost and insurance companies know how to do that,” said Jones. “They have people over there now who will help people prepare their claims and it’s not an easy task because not everyone has an exact measure of what they have.”
