On Bauer Business Focus — A conversation on the ongoing transformations in Houston’s East End District with Andrew Schneider, business reporter for KUHF 88.7 FM.
A lot is happening in Houston’s East End. The BBVA Compass Stadium for the Houston Dynamo recently opened, the METRO light rail line is coming in, and that’s only the beginning, according to Diane Schenke, president of the Greater East End Management District.
Schenke stopped by Bauer Business Focus recently to discuss how the district is changing to meet the growing needs of the city.
“The East End is closely positioned to major employment centers with downtown, the ship channel and the medical center, and we can see that development starting to come in,” Schenke said. “With the light rail and all of the investments in public transit, we can see that it’s poised for more redevelopment.”
With the area undergoing several infrastructure projects, Schenke and her team know the importance of working with residents.
“We’ve worked closely with the community and the focus of the district has been on 400 acres of available land. The plans we’ve drawn is to transform those 400 acres so that it fits in with the existing residents who live there.”
