On Bauer Business Focus — A conversation on fostering entrepreneurship with Andrew Schneider, business reporter for KUHF 88.7 FM.
Starting a technology business from scratch can be tough, but students at the University of Houston will be able to get their idea off the ground thanks to Three Day Startup (3DS) at the C. T. Bauer College of Business.
Jose Pablo Ramirez Pradilla, student organizer for 3DS, stopped by Bauer Business Focus recently to discuss how the Bauer College bringing together students on April 19-21 in order to create a new technology business.
“3DS at the University of Houston is a three day event where we get people to build a tech startup,” Ramirez Pradilla said. “It’s the business college’s version of a lab where we get a chance to succeed, or fail, at creating a business.”
Open to all UH students, 3DS promises to put students business, technology, creative and advertising skills to the test according to Pradilla.
“There is a series of pitching that goes on and we basically acquire a long list of ideas from the group,” Ramirez Pradilla added. “Once we have the list, we pick the top six ideas to pursue for the weekend and the students then migrate to the teams they are most interested to work for. After that happens it’s all about work, work, work and market validation until Sunday at 6 p.m. where you then go in front of mentors and venture capitalists who will hear your ideas and give you feedback.”
