Paul Lynch is the British consul-general in Houston and oversees a six-state area consisting of Texas, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma.

On Bauer Business Focus – British Consulate-General Paul Lynch visits with Ed Mayberry, business reporter for KUHF 88.7 FM, about the country’s newly appointed Prime Minister and the importance of business ties to Texas and the United States.

Texas’s relationship with Great Britain dates back to its birth when 23 men from the British Isles stood among those who crossed the line in the sand drawn by Col. Travis at the Alamo and declared Texas’s right to independence.

Today, many Texans work for British companies and vice versa, with 300-400 British companies in the Houston region alone.

“We want more British companies to come here, it’s good for British business, and it’s good for the local economy,” says Lynch. “The creation of jobs and investment in the economy between the two countries – that is a major pillar of the special relationship.”
