Peter Brown, executive board chairman of the Mayor's International Trade and Development Council, stopped by Bauer Business Focus recently to discuss how Houston is building business relationships across the globe.

On Bauer Business Focus — A conversation on building relationships in the global economy with Andrew Schneider, business reporter for KUHF 88.7 FM.

Relationships between the fourth largest city in the U.S. and global business are imperative to economic recovery, according to Peter Brown, executive board chairman of the Mayor’s International Trade and Development Council.

“There has been a huge change in the global economy,” Brown said. “We use to sit and wait for people to knock on our doors but now, it’s an interactive and competitive global marketplace and the city of Houston is getting around on knocking on people’s doors and letting them know we’re open for business.”

While Houston is pursuing partnerships around the globe, Brown and his team’s focus remains on building a better Houston.

“The city of Houston can best succeed, in terms of creating jobs, by building relationships with midsize businesses and businesses in the global marketplace and to establish a reputation and pursue business deals.”
