Practical Advice About Money is Focus of Special Saturday Workshop
On Oct. 26, Bauer College’s classrooms will be filled with groups of women who have one thing in common – they’re taking control of their financial future.
The C. T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston is partnering with Invesco to address the essential issue of personal finances and financial management at the third annual Invesco Financial Boot Camp for Women.
Participants have the opportunity to expand their financial literacy through a series of sessions throughout the day.
“[The program] is geared toward women in every walk of life. We have students and 70 year olds, we have had physicians and executives, to unemployed individuals and part timers,” Janice Cellier, divisional sales director at Invesco, said. “Its sole focus is to make you financially aware so you can make better financial decisions.”
Registration is currently open for the boot camp, scheduled for Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cemo Hall.
All proceeds from the event will benefit Bauer student scholarships, with Invesco matching the amount raised. Invesco, who has long ties with Bauer College, sees this event as a natural partnership.
“In addition to the natural tie of Ted Bauer as one of the co-founders of AIM and its historical association to Invesco, we have tremendous respect for the Bauer College and academic environment created there,” Cellier said.
Attendees can choose three 45-minute sessions from a roster of 10. The topics include real estate, investment basics, credit and retirement planning.
City of Houston Mayor Annise Parker and C. T. Bauer College of Business Dean Latha Ramchand are scheduled to speak at 9 a.m. during the event’s opening general session.
