March Madness Perfect Bracket Boils Down To “Mathletics”

NCAA’s March Madness is back again and Houston hosts the South Regional tournament March 27-29 at NRG Stadium. According to a survey by outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas, 50 million Americans participate in March Madness pools—and C. T. Bauer College of Business analytics professor Wayne Winston is an expert at determining who is most likely to win.

The Kentucky Wildcats (36-0) have been the uncontested leader going into the tourney and Winston’s latest numbers show them keeping their title as the winningest NCAA Division I basketball team in history.

Winston is available to discuss how he uses simple mathematics to analyze a range of statistical and probability related questions in professional sports.
