UH TAX PROF READIES FOR THE TAX DAY SCRAMBLE
With the April 15 deadline just a few days away, Janet Meade, an associate professor of accountancy and taxation, has heard just about every tax question in the book: Should I use a software program to file? What do the changes in the tax credits for college students and home buyers mean? Can I deduct my home office? Meade, who teaches courses in individual and corporate taxation and has written more than two dozen articles on the subject, can discuss how to reduce the cost and trouble of income taxes for panicked filers.

UH BAUER HOSTS SPACE TRAVELERS IN THURSDAY EVENTS
UH Bauer will host NASA astronauts — one current and another retired — at two events this Thursday. Colonel Timothy Kopra will be the featured speaker at the April Bauer College Alumni Association monthly networking breakfast at the Houston City Club on April 15, and later that evening, Bernard Harris, an accomplished astronaut, physician and businessman, will share his success story with students at the spring Distinguished Entrepreneur Speaker Series, organized by the college’s Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship. Both talks come at a time when the fate of future programs at Johnson Space Center remains uncertain, due to proposed budget cuts.
