C. T. BAUER COLLEGE OF BUSINESS MICROFINANCE PROGRAM HONORS PARTICIPANTS DURING DEC. 7 CEREMONY
In 2011, the FDIC showed that 8.2 percent of households are unbanked, leading to issues of savings, getting a loan and starting a business. To address this issue, the Microfinance Program at the C. T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston provides an innovative educational program, promoting microfinance in under-served Houston communities, by providing access to financial and business education, services and capital investment, with the goal of gaining financial independence.
On Saturday, Dec. 7, the Program will host a graduation ceremony and pitch day at the Bauer College, recognizing the participants. Program participants will be presented with a certificate from Congressman Al Green’s office, a certificate from the City of Houston Controller Ronald C. Green’s Bank on Houston Program, and a laptop, provided by a grant from Capital One Bank.
