UH President Khator Says Enormous Opportunities Await
Today’s Global Graduate at Fall 2010 Commencement
Business students from the University of Houston joined the proud ranks of more than 40,000 undergraduates and graduates who hold degrees from the C. T. Bauer College of Business during a joint commencement ceremony on Friday, December 17, in Hofheinz Pavilion.
The Fall 2010 Commencement Ceremony celebrated the accomplishments of the graduates with a send-off address from UH System Chancellor and President Renu Khator, who discussed the global opportunities accessible to today’s graduate.
“Whether you go on to a career right here in Houston, or somewhere else, one thing is certain – you will be working in the global village, where ideas and knowledge travel across borders, and competition comes as much from your neighbor as from someone in Beijing, Bangalore or Berlin,” Khator said.
“Your professors have trained you for this world… a world filled with great challenges, but also with enormous opportunities.”
Khator cited the numerous UH graduates who went on to be leaders in their fields, from entrepreneurs to CEOs of Fortune 500 companies.
“You have the ability to find a cure for cancer, solve our energy crisis and ease world conflict. But more importantly, you have the ability to inspire others – those less privileged – to dream and achieve great things.”
Nearly 600 students, including doctoral, MBA, masters of accountancy, masters of finance and undergraduate candidates received diplomas at the fall commencement, which also recognized graduating students from the UH Cullen College of Engineering.
In addition, outstanding UH Bauer students were also recognized including Outstanding Master of Science in Accountancy graduate Lisa Berry, Outstanding Master of Science in Finance graduate Hubertus van der Heijden and Outstanding MBA graduate Shannon Sealing. Click here to read more.
