On Bauer Business Focus — A conversation on development in Houston with Andrew Schneider, business reporter for KUHF 88.7 FM.
The energy industry has called Houston its global home for years, with major players, including Halliburton and Exxon, setting up shop in the area.
Dan Bellow, President of Jones Lang LaSalle of Houston, stopped by Bauer Business Focus recently to discuss how the energy industry is helping to grow development in Houston and surrounding areas.
“Exxon’s moving to a new development that’s going to have retail, hospitality and family housing in the area with additional sites for office development,” Bellow said. “We can expect to see, because of Exxon’s move to that location, additional office buildings to be built in the area as well as a positive influence on the Woodlands.”
With the energy industry remaining a strong and growing presence in the area, Bellow has high hopes that the city’s economy will continue to gain steam.
“I think Houston is doing generally well, and this is primarily driven by our economic recovery,” Bellow said. “Houston has recovered all the jobs we lost in the recession, and as a result of our rapid recovery, I think this tide is going to raise all boats and occupancy around the city, and it’s going to be positively impacted during 2012.”
