On Bauer Business Focus — A conversation on the Houston housing market inventory with Andrew Schneider, business reporter for KUHF 88.7 FM.
As the city of Houston continues to come out of the recession, the growth in housing interest grows as well.
Texas Association of Realtors Chairman Shad Bogany stopped by Bauer Business Focus recently to discuss how the housing market inventory in Houston is changing.
“When you think about the growth of employment, you have ExxonMobil coming in with 10,000 jobs and the builders haven’t caught up with the supply,” Bogany said. “I think builders, when they catch up, you’ll see an ease in the inventory.”
While the oil industry continues to grow in the Houston area, Bogany believes this will keep Houston’s housing industry growing as well.
“I would say that our inventory market should balance out sometime in the summer of next year. The other thing to keep in mind is the interest in housing and I believe in the spring, you’ll see the inventory go up because people are transitioning with their kids going into school. Also, I would say as long as the oil business is doing well Houston will be doing well in housing.”
