Panel Will Feature Leaders from Copano, Cheniere, Petrohawk and Sequent
The University of Houston C. T. Bauer College of Business will host a special edition of its Distinguished Leaders Series, presented by Sequent Energy Management, on Feb. 22, featuring a panel of four prominent experts to talk about the impact of recent gas shale discoveries and what it means for the industry and consumers.
The discussion will be held at 6 p.m. in Stubblefield Auditorium in Michael J. Cemo Hall, with a private reception preceding the event. Joseph Pratt, the Cullen Professor of Business and History at UH, will moderate the panel. Pratt is a noted author and expert in energy history.
The panel will feature notable and accomplished leaders from the energy industry, including:
H. Davis Thames
President, Cheniere Marketing LLC
H. Davis Thames is president of Cheniere Marketing LLC. He has more than 15 years of experience in various segments of the energy industry. Prior to joining Cheniere, Thames worked for several years at CrossCountry Energy, serving as the director of finance, risk management and credit for Transwestern Pipeline, Florida Gas Transmission and Northern Border Partners at the time of CrosCountry’s acquisition by Southern Union and General electric. He is a licensed professional engineer in California.
Richard K. Stoneburner
President & CEO, Petrohawk Energy Corporation
Richard K. Stoneburner is president and chief operating officer of Petrohawk Energy LLC. He has more than 30 years of experience in the energy business, working with Petrohawk from its formation in June 2003. He was employed by W/E Energy Company as District Geologist from 1998 to 1999. Prior to joining 3TEC in 1999 as vice president of exploration, Stoneburner worked as a geologist for Texas Oil & Gas, The Reach Group, Weber Energy Corporation, Hugoton, and independently through his own company, Stoneburner Exploration, Inc.
R. Bruce Northcutt
President & CEO, Copano Energy LLC
R. Bruce Northcutt has served as president and chief executive officer of Copano Energy LLC, since November 2009 and previously was the company’s president and chief operating officer. He has also served as president, managing director and vice president of business development of El Paso Global Networks Company. He holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.
Associate General Counsel, Unregulated Businesses, AGL Resources
Dat Tran, Associate General Counsel, Unregulated Business, AGL Resources, has served in his current capacity since March 2007. He is responsible for managing and directing the legal affairs of several business divisions, including Sequent Energy Management and Pivotal Energy Development. Tran has more than 15 years of legal experience in the energy sector, specializing in commodities trading and marketing, mergers and acquisitions and project development.
Since its inception in 2002, the Distinguished Leaders Series at UH Bauer has brought leaders from the business world to campus to give students firsthand perspectives of their paths to success. With support from Sequent Energy Management, the DLS has recently focused on how those leading energy companies are keeping pace with innovations in the industry.
